VIBE.com pays tribute to the comedic legend

Bernie Mac was one of our most prized comedians.  From his early appearances on HBO's Def Comedy Jam to appearances in movies like Friday and Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, the Mac Man always displayed rare comedic moments, for which he will always be remembered.

VIBE.com takes a look at 10 of those moments and remembers Bernie Mac the way he more than likely would’ve wanted us to remember him: a comic genius.

10.Bernie Mac as "Jing A Ling" (from the movieLife)

In this memorable appearance, Bernie Mac plays one of the prisoners known as Jing-A-Lang (Jing-A-Lang) and he talks to Martin Lawrence’s character, explaining “fondness” for men “mostly in prison.” The film showed how even amongst a star-studded roster of comedians (Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Anthony Anderson, Miguel A. Núñez Jr.) Mac could always steal a moment.

Anyone who’s had a son/nephew can appreciate the lesson taught here: defense is important.
7. Drunk at work(from the movie Bad Santa)

When you hit Mac’s age, sex is different. He’s tired. His body’s weary. Ironically, he talked about how much he was a machine in his earlier years. He made note that as you age, your whole life changes.

4.  Drugs are a “sinny-sin-sin” (from the film, Friday)

In this scene, Mac (as Pastor Clever) gets his groove on. This was the second time he appeared in a film with fellow Def Comedy Jam alumnus Chris Tucker. They previously starred in House Party 3.

3.  Dinner Scene (from the film, House Party 3)

Bernie Mac may not be the best man to bring home to dinner too…at all. Playing the role of Uncle Vester who is a good friend to Kid’s father, and is determined to cut his hosts.
2. Self-Hating Officer (from the film, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood)

Anything that’s the color black, Bernie Mac, as this officer, hates.

There is also a very funny scene in "Booty Call" when Bernie Mac plays a reverend who gets carried away describing the sin of fornication.
